Sneak Peek at Chihuly, Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, AZ

Chihuly is making a comeback to the Desert Botanical Garden, and last weekend Garden officials were in the midst of the installation. Here are some of my favorites so far. Obviously, the Night of the Luminarias this year is going to be especially colorful and festive. Above and below, greetings at the entrance in shades of blue.

Above, a close-up of a classic red-and-yellow Chihuly extravaganza, reminiscent of ketchup and mustard (or DC Comics' the original Captain Marvel--SHAZAM!)

Assembling Chihuly looks like a real task. I can only imagine the elaborate system of numbered parts involved in ensuring that all works are assembled right.

Probably my favorite, a multicolored plume reminiscent of birthday party balloons.

Perfect for the holiday season: a gnarled bare tree the color of peppermint bark candy sold during Christmastime.
