Palo Verde in Bloom

The beauty of spring continues in the Valley. Here, on Camelback Road, a palo verde blooms abundantly. It's also getting hotter here, slowly transitioning to summer days of triple digit temperatures.  Let's enjoy the mild warm weather while we can.

Green Glory: Close-ups of the Palo Verde Tree

Here are more close-up photos I managed to take of the palo verde tree. I really love these because they manage to showcase the tree's green bark rather vividly. I kind of like the gnarled brown patches disrupting the tree's smooth green skin. It provides for a rich variety of textures.

I confess that I took this photo to capture the image of the broken branch at the right. I like seeing imperfections break up the monotony of seeming perfection. That's life, after all.

Okay, this might not be of interest to many people, but I have spoken before about palo verde trees and their green bark, and I wanted to get a few close-up photos to include on Yuccabloom.

November Blooms

I must not have been paying attention lately, but some palo verde trees in the Valley are in bloom. This particular tree, of relatively large size, is sporting some yellow blooms at the edges of its upper branches. They are beautiful, bright, and full of sunny hope and aspiration. If you look closely at one of the branches in the background, you will catch sight of the green bark after which the tree is named. Wanting again to test the strength of my new camera's zoom, I decided to tackle the task of taking a close-up photograph of this large palo verde's leafy crown. I am happy to report that I am greatly satisfied with the result.
