Abundance in Tempe, AZ
Another opportunity to savor the beauty of the everyday. Here is a detailed photograph of oranges ripening on a tree in Tempe, something I would never have found when living in Chicago, obviously. I love the beauty of these ripening oranges, and I love the scent of the tree's blossoms during the blooming season. If you look into the tree, at the top left, you will see one orange slowly rotting. It reminds me of those 17th century still-life paintings with beautiful flowers or ripe fruit accompanied by a bug, or some other intimation of eventual decay. Nothing is more beautiful, and contains more wisdom, than the real. Seize the day.
